Ricky Smothers is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, illegal possession of ammunition.

Prosecutors said they filed an additional charge of aggravated assault of a police officer because Smothers threatened the cops who chased him into an alley behind the 1000 block of West Oakdale at 2:45 a.m.

Two men and a woman, all in their 20’s, suffered minor injuries from gunshot wounds to their lower extremities.

Several shell casings were found lying in the middle of Sheffield Avenue by responding officers, police said.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
