The FBI is investigating a pair of bank robberies this week in neighborhoods just to our west.

On Thursday, the TCF Bank at 4250 North Lincoln was robbed of about $3,000 by a man who wore a disco-tastic Afro wig and sunglasses.

The man entered the North Center neighborhood bank around 3:40 p.m. and presented a note to a teller that demanded cash, the FBI said. He then fled in an unknown direction.

According to the FBI, the man is black, about 25-years-old, and he stands 5’10” to 6-feet tall. He wore the wig, a black hooded sweatshirt with red sleeves, dark jeans, large sunglasses, and gray shoes.

Then, at 9;03 a.m. on Friday, a different man robbed the U.S. Bank at 4725 North Western in Lincoln Square of $1,411.

The FBI said the robber is white, between 40- and 50-years-old, and he stands 5’6″ to 5’9″ tall. He wore a red knit hat, a dark scarf, a tan coat, dark pants, and gray tennis shoes.

Authorities are offering a reward for information that leads them to either man. The FBI Chicago office may be contacted at (312) 421-6700.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
