The 31-year-old victim told police that an unknown man attacked her from behind in the 2500 block of West Pensacola around 9 p.m.

After robbing the woman of $20, the offender—described as a 5’9″ black man with a medium build in a dark sweatshirt—forced her into a nearby alley and raped her.

He was last seen running westbound in the alley toward Riverbank Neighbors Park, police said.

The victim is being treated at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
