A man was stabbed six times along the bike path at North Avenue Beach this evening. An offender, also stabbed, is in custody.

The two were near the North Avenue pedestrian bridge when the offender pulled out a knife around 6:15 p.m.

Police said the 25-year-old victim was stabbed six times in the chest. He is in serious condition at Northwestern Memorial Medical Center.

Cops were on-scene almost immediately, and they quickly took the offender into custody as he tried to escape on a bicycle, a witness said.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
