Two Charged After Shots Fired At Car In Uptown

A 20-year-old gangbanger is in custody, charged with handing a weapon to a juvenile who opened fire on two men as they sat in a car on an Uptown street Monday night.

Hines | Cook County Sheriff

Prosecutors say Clyde Hines handed the juvenile a handgun in the 4400 block of Racine around 10 p.m. and the boy opened fire on a car occupied by two teens from south suburban Dolton.

Four or five shots were fired, striking the victims’ car, but causing no injuries, police said.

Hines and the teen ran from the scene, but cops found them near the Jewel-Osco at Montrose and Broadway. Both suspects were returned to the shooting scene where they were identified as the assailants, according to police.

Hines, a member of the Black P Stones street gang, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal damage to property. All of the charges are misdemeanors. Bail is set at $50,000. He lives on the block where the shooting took place.

Information about charges filed against the juvenile were not immediately available.
