Man Charged With Robbing Couple Near Wrigley Field

Detectives have tracked down the man responsible for robbing a couple near Wrigley Field on September 10, prosecutors say.

Sarfo

22-year-old Uptown resident Jeff Sarfo was arrested at his home in the 800 block of West Belle Plaine at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. Records show Sarfo previously received a 3-year prison sentence for robbing a victim at the Addison Red Line station on July 27, 2012. Police say he is a documented gang member.

Around 5:10 a.m. on September 10, Sarfo approached a Lakeview couple outside of their home in the 1200 block of West Waveland, according to prosecutors. He allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded their valuables before running away. The victims identified Sarfo in a photo array, according to police.

Sarfo is charged with two counts of Class X felony armed robbery with a firearm. A judge ordered him held without bond.

Detectives previously connected the Waveland robbery with five others in a community alert, but Sarfo has not yet been charged with any other cases.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
