Cannon punched a 70-year-old man to the ground and robbed him outside the Sheridan Red Line station, cops say. |
It’s the third time this week that we’re reporting about elderly victims being attacked and robbed at or near the CTA.
At least this morning there’s good news.
A 24-year-old Near West Side man is charged with punching a 70-year-old man in the face, knocking him to the ground, and “striking the victim with a dangerous weapon” during a robbery near the Sheridan Red Line station on August 7.
Karon Cannon of the 1300 block of West Roosevelt is charged with one felony count of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon and one felony count of aggravated battery-great bodily harm, police said.
The attack took place around 6 p.m. on that summer night. The victim was treated and released from Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Cannon was arrested on Wednesday night near his home.
Records show that at the time of the attack Cannon was free on electronic monitoring while fighting a domestic battery charge.
