Cops: River North Robbery Crew Has Struck 3 More Times

Police say a group of men who’ve been beating and robbing people west of the Magnificent Mile has struck three more times in the past week, including once since a community alert was issued about their crime wave on Friday.

Detectives issued an updated bulletin today in which the robbery crew is blamed for mugging victims in the 900 block of North State at 2:45 p.m. last Tuesday; in the 800 block of North Dearborn at 8:50 p.m. last Tuesday; and in the 600 block of North Wells at 11:54 p.m. on Saturday.

The offenders were previously connected to attacks at 1:57 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 in the first block of West Delaware; 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 in the first block of West Chestnut; and 1:14 a.m. on Sunday, November 5 in the 200 block of West Huron.

In each attack, the group has pushed and punched victims on the street and taken property.

Surveillance images released in the earlier alert showed the suspects aboard a Red Line train and at the Roosevelt CTA station. Police describe the wanted persons at three or four black men between 18- and 25-years-old who stand 5’7” to 6’2” tall and weigh 175 to 180 pounds.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Area Central investigators at 312-747-8380.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
