Series Of Muggings Near Magnificent Mile; Alert Issued

Police are warning about a series of violent robberies near the Magnificent Mile. At least three cases have been connected to a group of three or four offenders, according to a community alert.

On November 3 and November 5, the offenders pushed and punched people on the street and took the victims’ property, police said. The suspects ran from each incident on foot. On November 4, they left the area via a Red Line at Chicago Avenue, according to released information.

Detectives connected the following three cases to the same group of offenders:

• 1:57 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 in the first block of West Delaware
• 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 in the first block of West Chestnut
• 1:14 a.m. on Sunday, November 5 in the 200 block of West Huron

Surveillance images were released showing the suspects aboard a Red Line train and at the Roosevelt CTA station. Police describe the wanted persons at three or four black men between 20- and 25-years-old who stand 5’7” to 6’2” tall and weigh 175 to 180 pounds.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Area Central investigators at 312-747-8380.

About CWBChicago 4358 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
