Surveillance video has been released showing the attackers who targeted three men within 15 minutes in Uptown on Wednesday evening. CWBChicago reported on the attacks the same night.
In a new community alert, police confirm two robberies in the spree: one in the 700 block of West Bittersweet around 7:15 a.m. and the other in the 4200 block of North Clarendon about 15 minutes later. In each incident, a group of four male teens attacked men as they walked alone.
One man was beaten up and nearly robbed by four young black men as he tried to enter his home in the 700 block of West Bittersweet. The offenders then fled eastbound on Bittersweet. (ABC7 has video of this attack online.)
At 7:45 p.m., a 50-year-old man was beaten to the ground by the same four offenders near Clarendon and Hutchinson. He was not robbed. The attackers fled northbound on Clarendon, police said. The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical center for treatment.
CWBChicago independently confirmed a third attack occurred around 7:30 p.m. near Buena and Clarendon. The victim said four teenagers matching the description in the other cases battered him and then fled eastbound toward Marine Drive.
