Cops tracked down two juvenile offenders after a 21-year-old man was robbed near his Boystown apartment late Sunday night, according to police.

The victim was in the 900 block of West Newport around 11:35 p.m. when two 16-year-old boys brandished a knife and took his wallet and iPhone, police said. Town Hall officers followed pings from the stolen phone to locate the offenders in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, according to reports. Cops determined that the pair tried to purchase a new SIM card for the phone at the Boystown Jewel-Osco store before fleeing to the South Side.

Both teens are charged with robbery and unlawful use of an account number. Authorities will not release further information about the case because the offenders are juveniles.

Overall, robbery reports for the Wrigleyville and Boystown neighborhoods this year are at an 11-year low. Eight hold-ups have been reported in the area so far in 2018, the best start to any year since four cases were recorded in the first two months of 2007.

Loop: 3 Arrested In Afternoon Armed Robbery

Three men are in custody after a woman reported being robbed at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon in the Loop. The victim was at the corner of Wacker and LaSalle when two men approached her around 2:15 p.m. One of the men pulled out a gun and demanded her property, a police spokesman said.

Two of the offenders ran down to the Riverwalk and headed east, putting them in plain view of cops when their descriptions were read out on police radios. The two led officers on a foot chase through the lower levels of Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue before being captured. The third suspect was arrested nearby.

No weapon was recovered from the suspects and police were seen scouring the chase route and Riverwalk more than an hour after the hold-up. Charges are being sought against all three men.
