Police are investigating a home invasion reported in Lakeview on Sunday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m., a 24-year-old woman with tape wrapped around her mouth and hands knocked on a neighbor’s door in the 900 block of West George.

The woman reported that an unknown man kicked in her back door, tied her up with cord and tape, then ransacked the apartment in a search for valuables. She declined medical attention at the scene.

The man fled out the back door with the victim’s cell phone, car keys, and a laptop, police said. He was described by the victim as black, about 6’3” tall, 240 pounds, and wearing a green parka with Timberland boots.

Police said the woman’s car was not stolen. They found in its parking space.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
