A robbery and possible home invasion today near the Lincoln Park-Lakeview border is believed to be family-related, police said this afternoon.

Around 10:45 this morning, a 69-year-old man reported that two people rang his doorbell and then pushed their way into his home when he answered the door in the 2600 block of North Hampden. The victim was punched in the head repeatedly and robbed of about $800, according to a report.

Police said the primary offender had a scarf wrapped around her head. She is female, black, and about 40-years-old. The other robber was described only as male. Investigators are following a lead that she may be related to the victim.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
