Twin Brothers Charged With Robbing Man In Loop Tuesday

Edwin (L) and Marquise Doyle | Chicago Police Dept

Twin brothers have been charged with robbing a 34-year-old man in the Loop on Tuesday evening, police said this afternoon.

Eighteen-year-olds Edwin and Marquise Doyle of the 5700 block of South Racine are each charged with one felony count of aggravated robbery-indicating presence of a firearm. Both were due in bond court this afternoon.

Around 9:35 p.m. on Tuesday, the Doyles approached a man in the 200 block of West Madison and announced a robbery, police said. The victim claimed that they threatened to “stick” him during the hold-up as they took his property.

The Doyles were stopped in the 100 block of West Madison minutes after the robbery by officers who said the brothers matched a description of the offenders that had been broadcast on police radio. Prosecutors say the victim identified the brothers as the men who robbed him.

Robberies in the Loop are up 80% year-over-year and up 326% since 2014. Chicago police have made a series of robbery-related arrests in the downtown area over the past week. The department said the arrests are part of an anti-robbery blitz.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
