Boystown: Brazen Burglars Bust Into Two Occupied Apartments On Halsted Street

Two burglaries of occupied apartments were reported on the Boystown strip late Monday and early Tuesday.

Burglars busted into two occupied apartments in Boystown on Monday night and early Tuesday, scaring the daylights out of their victims, but leaving no one injured. Both of the break-ins took place in the 3200 block of North Halsted Street.

• Around 10:20 p.m. on Monday, a woman fled to her bedroom after a man kicked in the door of her second-floor apartment. The woman—who didn’t have access to her phone in the bedroom—was able to notify a friend online and he reported the break-in to police. An evidence technician recovered a skull cap that the offender left behind.

• At 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday, an unknown man kicked in the front door of another apartment just a few doors north of the first victim’s home. The offender fled when he was confronted by one of the apartment’s residents.

Another forcible-entry burglary was reported in the 2900 block of North Seminary last Wednesday. That break-in is believed to have taken place during the day when the residence was unoccupied.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
