A man wanted for the robberies of two Loop convenience stores was taken into custody in Uptown last week, police said. Keon Morgan, 25, was in the 4600 block of North Marine Drive when a police fugitive apprehension unit spotted him around 9:30 a.m. on May 6, according to court records.
Morgan is now charged with two felony counts of aggravated robbery-indicating presence of a firearm. Judge David Navarro ordered him held without bail.
Around 6 a.m. on November 19, Morgan entered the 7-Eleven at 180 North Franklin, implied that he had a gun while holding his waistband, and then demanded money and cigarettes, police said. Morgan was identified in a photo line-up and from video of the robbery, according to court records.
Prosecutors said Morgan committed a similar robbery two days later at the 7-Eleven store located in the first block of West Jackson.
In Morgan’s arrest report, police said he is a member of the Gangster Disciples street gang.
