Prosecutors have charged a man with repeatedly burglarizing a Lakeview condominium complex and threatening a witness who saw him trying to break in on one other occasion.

Gregory Bowers, 52, of the Avondale neighborhood is charged with three counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, and assault in connection with a series of break-ins at a condo complex in the 900 block of West Sheridan last summer. That is also where he threatened a man who saw him breaking into the building, prosecutors said.

Bowers allegedly stole bicycles from the condo complex.

Separately, Bowers was charged with stealing a bicycle from a garage in the 500 block of West Oakdale in March 2017. The victim of that burglary allegedly saw Bowers leave his garage on the bike via video.

The break in the Lakeview cases came after Bowers was arrested for breaking into three buildings in the 14th (Shakespeare) Police District in June. Investigators were subsequently able to connect him to the other cases on Sheridan and Oakdale, police said.

Bowers is being held without bail.
