Man carjacked while unloading vehicle Sunday afternoon

Approximate location of Sunday’s carjacking

Police said a man was battered and carjacked as he unloaded his vehicle near the border of Uptown and Lakeview on Sunday afternoon. No one is in custody.

A police spokesman said the 24-year-old victim had removed items from his trunk and was walking toward his home in the 4000 block of North Kenmore around 3:45 p.m. That’s when three offenders approached him and one pressed a hard object into his back while demanding the man’s car keys, police said.

After getting the man’s keys, the three offenders ran to the victim’s car and got in. The victim tried to pull the driver out of the car, but the offender accelerated and dragged the victim for a short distance, according to police.

The victim suffered visible injuries to his leg, but he declined medical attention.

A silver 2012 Subaru Legacy

The stolen car is a silver 2012 Subaru Legacy with a license plate that begins with Q445. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Irving Park Road.

According to the victim, the offenders were three black men between 18- and 20-years-old. One of them wore a denim jacket.

About CWBChicago 4259 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
