Three women robbed in 30 minutes Sunday morning

UPDATE 7:20PM—Chicago police have made an arrest in connection with these cases. More info coming. Police said the suspect was taken into custody after an officer pulled him over for a traffic violation in the Uptown neighborhood. Proceeds from the robberies were reportedly found in the suspect’s car. We’ll have a full report after charges are finalized.

Three women were robbed within 30 minutes Sunday morning in Lincoln Park and nearby Lakeview. The same offender is suspected in all three muggings. All of the victims are in their 20’s, police said.

• A woman was walking her dog in the 2600 block of North Orchard around 6:30 a.m. when a man approached her and threatened to punch her in the face if she did not hand over her valuables. After getting the victim’s wallet, phone, jacket, and keys, the man ran to a nearby parked car and drove toward Clark Street, according to the victim.

• Fifteen minutes later, a woman was in the 600 block of West Arlington place when a man approached her and announced a robbery while reaching into his waistband, implying he had a gun. He fled with the victim’s passport and about $200 cash, police said.

• Finally, at 6:55 a.m., a woman was robbed of her phone by a man who implied that he had a gun as she walked in the 900 block of West George Street. The woman threw her phone and ran from the area, police said.

Police said the robber is a black male in his’ 20’s who stands about 5’7ā€ tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He had short black hair was wearing shorts, gym shoes, and a purple t-shirt that says ā€œAfter School Mattersā€ on the front in white letters. He may be using a dark silver or white four-door sedan.
