Chicago police are investigating a series of robberies, thefts, and a sex crime that were apparently committed by one man in under 30 minutes along two blocks of Fullerton Avenue in Lincoln Park on Wednesday afternoon. The offender is not in custody.

DePaul University told its students in a series of alerts on Wednesday that a man had approached four victims and demanded their valuables while walking westbound on Fullerton between Halsted and Sheffield.

One of the victims was “inappropriately touched” by the offender while he tried to take her property and the case was classified as a criminal sexual assault, according to the school’s public safety alert.

Chicago police on Wednesday night confirmed that a 19-year-old man reported he was approached in the 900 block of West Fullerton by a stranger who asked for a dollar and then demanded the man’s wallet around 3:30 p.m. The stranger eventually ran away.

A police spokesperson also confirmed that a criminal sexual assault report was taken in connection with the incidents, but details were not available because the report had not been finalized.

Police said the suspect is male, black, 35- to 45-years-old, 5-‘9” to 6-feet tall, 150 to 160 pounds, with a medium complexion. He was wearing a black ski cap, a black hoodie, black pants, and brown boots.

CWBChicago will update this report after police release final details.

Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is
