A woman who is believed to be in her 30’s was found dead Sunday morning near the Montrose dog beach. She had suffered a gunshot wound to her head, police said. A death investigation is underway.

Passers-by found the woman’s body on some rocks just north of the dog beach around 9:30 a.m. in the 4700 block of North Lawrence Wilson Drive. Beer cans, money, and a cellphone were found nearby.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is [email protected]
