| Wikicommons

Police said a 65-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint while using a restroom in Millenium Park on Saturday evening as the city’s annual BMO Harris Bank Magnificent Mile Lights Festival tree-lighting parade took place nearby. No one is in custody.

The victim told police that he was using a men’s room on the north end of the park around 5:50 p.m. when two men approached him and demanded his valuables while pointing a gun to his head.

According to a police report, the offenders got away with cash and a cellular phone.

The victim sought help from a park security guard, but the robbers managed to slip away into the large crowds that were enjoying holiday celebrations downtown.

Police said the robbers were two black males in their late teens or early 20’s. One was about 5’5” tall, the other about 5’8” tall.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
