Approximate locations of the five robberies listed in detectives’ new alert. |
Police say a robbery crew is responsible for mugging at least five people since Nov. 21st in a concentrated area of Uptown, Lakeview, and Ravenswood. A community alert issued by police said a small group of offenders is either approaching victims from behind or engaging them in conversation before battering and robbing them. The offenders have been armed with a handgun in some cases, police said.
Detectives typically issue community alerts when they believe that a series of crimes are the work of a single individual or group.
