A Logan Square man has been charged with the armed robberies of three pawnshops, including one in Lakeview.
Norbert Caillouet, 38, of the 2000 block of West Shakespeare was arrested on Friday as he tried to sell proceeds from those robberies to another pawn shop in the West Town neighborhood, police said.
Caillouet is accused of being one of three armed men who smashed display cases and stole jewelry from Cash America, 3900 North Broadway, around 6:40 p.m. on June 7th. The store’s employees were herded into the back office while robbers smashed display cases with a sledgehammer and stole inventory, police said at the time.
Police said today that Caillouet also robbed a pawn shop in the West Ridge neighborhood twice. On Aug. 30th and again on Dec. 10th, he entered the store in the 1900 block of West Howard, displayed a handgun, and stole jewelry, according to a police statement.
Caillouet was arrested at 11:20 p.m. on Friday as he tried to sell robbery proceeds to a pawn shop in the 2000 block of West Chicago, police said.
Prosecutors have charge Caillouet with three counts of armed robbery. He is due in bond court today.
