An Amundsen High School student is being held without bail, charged with sending threatening Snapchat messages to fellow students during class.

Nineteen-year-old Isaiah Johnson was arrested at the school, 5110 North Damen, shortly after 3 p.m. last Monday, according to police records.

Prosecutors said Johnson posted two photos of high-capacity rifles to Snapchat during school, stating “Ya’ll all judging me too quickly when this is who I really am outside school” and “I need you guys to show people that video. Let them know I’m not the one to play with.”

Several students reported seeing and being frightened by the posts, according to police records.

Johnson is charged with one felony count of threatening violence to a person at a school. He is due back in court on Tuesday.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
