Police have issued a community alert for Lakeview after a boy reported being targeted in a child luring on Wednesday morning.

The juvenile was running eastbound in the 1000 block of West Wolfram around 7:15 a.m. when a vehicle stopped next to him in the street and a man in the car motioned for him to come over, according to the police bulletin.

Investigators said the boy continued on his way and then heard the car honk several times. He turned around and saw the man who waved him over had exited the vehicle.

The offender is described as a bald black male between 40- and 45-years-old who has gray hair on the back side of his head. He was wearing glasses, a gray and blue sweater, and khaki pants.

His car was a tan Toyota Camry with rust on the passenger side between the front and rear doors.

Police recommended in the alert that residents call 911 to report any suspicious activity; that people walk in pairs; and to avoid talking with strangers or approaching unfamiliar vehicles.

Anyone with information about the incident may contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8200 regarding case JC-263812.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
