A Humboldt Park man is facing weapons charges after beach-goers reported seeing a man firing a gun at Montrose Harbor on Sunday evening, police said.

Officers were called to the lakefront around 7:50 p.m. by several witnesses who reported that a man was firing a gun on the pier, possibly as part of a video shoot.

Arriving officers were directed toward two men who were walking away from the beach, one of whom was 26-year-old Sarong Gonzalez. A handgun was recovered, police said.

Gonzalez is charged with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He is currently being held in lieu of $2,000 bail.
