He said one robber was a heavyset black man in a white t-shirt who fled with an accomplice in a small red car that was occupied by three other black males. The vehicle was last seen heading west on Grace.
Three robberies were reported on Friday evening:
Charges are pending against two men who allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint in Uptown on Friday evening. The victim waved down a patrol officer around 6:40 p.m. and reported that the offenders took $100 cash from him near Sunnyside and Sheridan. And, he said, one of the men had a chrome pistol in his waistband. Police arrested two suspects in the area and recovered a handgun just after 7 p.m. We’ll post an update when charging details are available.
About two hours later, another man was robbed at gunpoint after he agreed to go into an alley near Buena and Sheridan to smoke up with the offenders. The man said he walked into the alley to “puff” with the duo, but instead of getting high, the man said he wound up having a handgun placed against his head. The offenders took the man’s wallet and phone, grabbed about $90 from the billfold, then threw the phone and empty wallet back at the victim and fled the scene.
The offenders were two black males in their early or mid-20’s, according to the victim. One stands about 5’11” tall, weighs 150 pounds, had dreads, and wore a white sweatshirt with blue jeans. The other is approximately 6-feet tall, 150 pounds, and he wore a black t-shirt with a gold “DC” logo and blue jeans. Both men were last seen heading eastbound on Buena.
A woman was robbed of her laptop bag, cash, wallet, keys, and phone by two men who confronted her outside of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center around 9:10 p.m. Friday. The woman said she was near Mildred and Wellington when the two men approached her, took her valuables, then fled south on Mildred.
She said the robbers were two black men in their early 20’s who are of average height and have slender builds. One had short dreadlocks and wore a black shirt. The other offender had short black hair and wore a dark baseball cap with a red shirt.
