Lakeview: Gunmen abort robbery after determining woman has nothing they want

CTA

A woman reported that two men tried to rob her at gunpoint near the Sheridan Red Line station on Sunday afternoon, but the offenders left empty-handed because she didn’t have anything they wanted.

Police said the woman was just outside the station around 12:45 p.m. when two men approached her and displayed a handgun. The men demanded valuables from the woman, but they walked away after determining that she was not carrying anything worth stealing.

Both would-be robbers fled east from the station.

The victim said they were two black men with dreadlocks between 18- and 23-years-old who stand 5’8” to 5’11” tall. One wore a white t-shirt with shorts, the other wore a red t-shirt bearing a graphic design.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
