Lincoln Park: Two armed robberies within 15 minutes early Wednesday

Police are investigating two armed robberies reported in under 20 minutes early Wednesday in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The same pair of gunmen are suspected of being responsible for both hold-ups, according to a police department source.

In the first incident, two men armed with handguns approached a pair of victims near the Armitage Brown Line station around 2:10 a.m. The victims handed over their valuables, and both offenders were last seen running northbound on the 2000 block of North Bissell.

About ten minutes later, two men pulled out handguns and forced a man to sit on a porch stoop as they robbed him in the 500 block of West Belden. The offenders took the man’s wallet and phone, then fled west on Belden.

The victims of the first robbery said both gunmen are black males who stand about 5’7” tall. One of them was wearing a gray sweater or sweatshirt.

In the second incident, the victim said the robbers are two black males in their early 20’s, one of whom was masked. The first offender wore a dark hoodie with red sleeves, the other wore a dark hoodie.
