A 22-year-old man was in good condition after being shot during an altercation in Lincoln Square on Wednesday evening. No one is in custody.

Police said the victim was involved in an argument with three men on the sidewalk in the 5200 block of North Damen around 9:40 p.m. when the dispute turned physical. During the fight, one of the three men pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the victim in the left knee and mouth, police said. Witnesses reported hearing six or seven shots fired.

All three offenders then ran south on Damen, according to CPD.

Police said they “know” the victim, who was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston for treatment.

The offenders were described only as Hispanic men.

About CWBChicago 4360 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
