A 41-year-old man was stabbed in both arms while trying to break up a fight on Wrigleyville’s Clark Street bar strip early Thursday, police said. No one is in custody.

Arriving officers placed a tourniquet on one of the man’s arms to stem the flow of blood shortly after the fight ended in front of Sluggers World Class Sports Bar, 3540 North Clark, around 12:50 a.m.

The victim told officers that he was trying to break up a fight between a group of people outside the bar when he was stabbed. He was unable to provide police with a description of the offender because the scene was chaotic, according to police.

Witnesses believed the fight was gang-related, a CPD spokesperson said, while adding that the victim “does not appear to be known” to the department.

The victim was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his condition was stabilized.
