Robbery alert issued for Wrigleyville area

Police issued a robbery alert for the area near Wrigleyville Field on Tuesday. Detectives typically release alerts when they believe a series of crimes have been committed by the same individual or group.

According to the alert, three of the recent robberies in Lakeview are connected to a team of men who approach victims as they walk alone between midnight and 1 a.m. The offenders demand their targets’ property under threat of beating up the victims. They collect the person’s valuables and run away, police said.

Robberies connected to the group were reported at midnight on June 5th in the 3400 block of North Clark; at 1 a.m. on June 6th in the 3600 block of North Clark, and at midnight on June 8th in the 4000 block of North Southport.

Police described the robbers as two to three black males between 20- and 25-years-old.
