Police were in the right place at the right time when a man’s wallet was allegedly stolen Thursday evening about a block from the Viagra Triangle.

Officers patrolling the 800 block of North State saw a man chasing another southbound at 8:04 p.m., a CPD spokesperson said. The second man pointed toward the first and yelled, “Stop him! He took my wallet.”
Nicholas McReynolds, 32, was arrested moments later after a short foot chase, police said.
The victim, 46, told police that he was standing near the corner of State and Chestnut when McReynolds reached into his rear pants pocket and took his billfold.  Police located the wallet and returned it to the victim after a witness reported seeing McReynolds throw it as he ran from the scene, police said.
Prosecutors charged McReynolds with felony theft from a person. He is due in bond court on Friday.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
