Two men are facing charges after they climbed to the top of a construction elevator at the Vista Tower skyscraper construction site, 345 East Wacker Drive.

Callers began reporting the climbers around 7:10 p.m. on Saturday and the 911 calls kept coming as they came into view of residents in nearby high-rises. An unnamed Snapchat user posted video of the men as their ascent began.

Witnesses reported the men reaching at least the 72nd floor of the 93-story 1,198-foot project before turning around and climbing back to Mother Earth.

Police were waiting at the base of the elevator structure to arrest the men, both 28-years-old. Charges of trespassing and reckless conduct are being reviewed.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
