A Hyde Park man is charged with beating and kicking a man into unconsciousness last month in Wrigleyville.

Prosecutors say 22-year-old Liam McIntyre punched and kicked the victim in the face multiple times, rendering him unconscious during a confrontation at Dimo’s Pizza, 3463 North Clark, around 7:10 p.m. on May 23rd.

The 23-year-old victim suffered a concussion, was hospitalized, and continued to experience headaches two weeks after the incident, according to prosecutors.

McIntyre turned himself in at the 19th District police station in Wrigleyville last Thursday after being told that police were interested in speaking with him, according to CPD records.

He has been charged with felony aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

McIntyre was free on bail while awaiting trial for a burglary charge at the time of the alleged attack. Judge Mary Marubio ordered him held without bail on a violation of bail bond in that case. A recognizance bond was orderd for the aggravated battery matter.

The burglary charge stems from a Jan. 1st break-in to an apartment in the 900 block of West Huron. Police said security video showed McIntyre breaking into the West Town apartment to steal valuables. He has pleaded not guilty in that case.
