Update: Cops release photo of Millennium Park sexual assault suspect

CPD released this image of the man.

Police have released a CTA surveillance image of the man who stole a woman’s phone on a downtown subway platform and then sexually assaulted her when she chased him into a stairwell at Millennium Park on Tuesday morning.

The man exited a train at Washington and Dearborn, took the woman’s phone from her hand, and ran away, police said. She chased the offender to the 100 block of East Randolph and then pursued him down a staircase on the northwest corner of Millennium Park, the source said.

A source said the stairwell comes to a dead-end where the man physically attacked the 27-year-old victim and sexually assaulted her. He then left the area on foot. Evidence technicians recovered a condom from the scene.

Police said the entire incident played out between 3 a.m. and 3:40 a.m. today, July 9th. They said the offender is 25- to 35-years-old, about 5’9” tall, and 160 pounds. The victim said he was wearing a name tag that said, “Ford.”

The woman’s condition was stabilized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
