In less than a month, Chicago has apparently gone from Chance The Snapper to El Chompo.

Chicago police on Monday night found a three-foot-long alligator as they executed a search warrant in the Irving Park neighborhood.

Police said they entered the home on the 4000 block of North Troy at 9:38 p.m. and recovered several guns as well as narcotics. And the alligator.

The reptile was turned over to the Chicago Animal Care and Control.

No humans were arrested at the scene, police said. The investigation continues.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
