A Lakeview man was robbed at gunpoint Monday evening and a second victim was targeted nearby minutes later, according to police and a department source. There were no injuries, and no offenders are in custody.
Police said a 22-year-old man was walking home when a robber approached him from behind and put a pistol to his head in the 3100 block of North Kenmore at 9:15 p.m.
The victim handed over a phone, headphones, and other valuables after the offender ordered him to empty his pockets, according to police. The gunman then fled southbound on Kenmore in a car driven by a second man.
Officers recovered the victim’s phone from a sidewalk on the 1000 block of West Barry by using a tracking feature.
Minutes after the first incident, another man told police that a gunman in a dark car tried to rob him in an alley behind the 1100 block of West George. That victim chose not to file a police report, a CPD spokesperson said.
The first victim described the gunman as an unshaven Hispanic man in his 20’s who stands about 5’10” tall and weighs about 155 pounds. He said the offender was wearing a red baseball hat, white shirt, and red pants, according to police. The getaway driver is a man of unknown race with black hair who drove a black, boxy-looking, four-door sedan.
Area North detectives are investigating.
