Robbery alert issued for River North, Streeterville

Police have issued a robbery alert for the River North and neighborhoods.

Investigators identified a pattern of three muggings that may be related. In each case, two men or teenagers punched their victims and took property, police said.

The pattern involves robberies on the 600 block of North Wells at 6 p.m. on Aug. 3; on the first block of West Grand at 9 a.m. on Aug. 7, and on the 100 block of East Chestnut in the morning hours of Aug. 18.

According to the alert, the robbers are two black males between 15- and 18-years-old who stand 5’8” to 5’10” tall and weigh 130 to 150 pounds.

Community alerts are typically issued when investigators believe an individual or group is responsible for a series of crimes.
