Two adults and a grade school child visited a Clybourn Corridor candy store on Tuesday evening. And the adults robbed the place.

The man, woman, and child entered It’s Sugar, 1501 North Halsted, shortly after 8 p.m.

After a few moments, the man approached the store’s employee, implied that he was armed with a handgun, and took $35 cash from the register.  The trio then fled the scene.

Officers on the scene generated descriptions of the three individuals after reviewing surveillance video:

  • A slim, six-foot-tall black male wearing a red, white, and blue Tommy Hilfiger coat.
  • A black female who stands about 5’3” tall, weighs 160 pounds and wore a black hat with a black jacket.
  • An approximately 10-year-old child who wore a red jacket with a black and white cap.

They were last seen heading westbound on Blackhawk Street.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
