Detectives have connected four recent burglaries in the Lakeview neighborhood to two thieves who are generally entering residences through unlocked doors. That’s according to a new community alert from Chicago police.

The burglars enter homes through front or back doors during evening hours and help themselves to the victim’s property before fleeing, police said. Detectives said the men forced their way through a rear door in one case.

Police linked the following burglaries to the thieves:

  • 3300 block of North Kenmore at 7:57 p.m. on Nov. 1
  • 400 block of West Wellington at 2:20 p.m. on Nov. 4
  • 3200 block of North Racine at 7 p.m. on Nov. 10
  • 3200 block of North Clifton after 8 p.m. on Nov. 16.

Investigators said one offender is a black male, 30- to 45-years-old, 5’9” to 6-feet tall with a heavy build. The other man is black, 20- to 27-years-old, 5’8” to 6-feet tall, with a medium build.

The alert encouraged residents to lock their doors and windows at all times and to pay attention to suspicious people in the area.

Anyone with information about the burglars can contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8263. Refer to pattern P19-3-304.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
