Group of teens robs Uber Eats deliveryman

A group of teenagers robbed an Uber Eats deliveryman of his bicycle in the Streeterville neighborhood on Monday night, according to police and a witness.

The 53-year-old man left his bicycle unlocked while he stepped into a restaurant on the 200 block of East Ohio around 6:50 p.m., according to a police spokesperson. A group of between 15 and 20 people was standing outside the business when he came back outside, police said, and one man was stealing the victim’s bicycle.

Police said another member of the group tripped the victim from behind when he unsuccessfully tried to get his bicycle back. The victim said members of the group kicked him while he was on the ground.

Officers gave the victim a ride home.

Police offered no descriptions of the offenders. No arrests have been made.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
