New images have surfaced of a man who police say punched a woman in her throat during a robbery in Lakeview on Monday afternoon.

The man rode up behind a 35-year-old veterinary worker on a bike as she walked down an alley behind an animal hospital on the 1600 block of West Diversey at 12:22 p.m.

“He snuck up behind and tried to grab my phone,” the victim told a Facebook group shortly after the incident. “I got it back, but then he grabbed my cross-body purse. The strap broke, and I tried to get it back, but then he punched me in the throat and threatened to shoot me.” No weapon was displayed, she said.

A surveillance image that accompanied the victim’s story on Facebook included a photo of the man pedaling away from the scene.

Now, a CWBChicago reader has provided a series of additional images that show the suspect from the front, including a couple of shots of his face. The newly-secured images show the offender clutching the victim’s yellow cross-body bag as he bikes away from the scene.

Police said the robber fled westbound through the alley and then turned north on Paulina.
