Chicago police are investigating two robberies in Lincoln Park on Friday evening that appear to be the work of the same people. So far, no one is in custody.
The first robbery took place around 5:30 p.m. on the 2100 block of North Lincoln, according to police records. That’s when an Old Town woman says two women got out of a black SUV, beat her up, and took her purse.
Both offenders returned to the vehicle, which sped from the scene.
Police said the victim’s credit card was used about 30 minutes later at Dick’s sporting goods, 1538 North Clybourn. But, the robbers were gone from the store by the time police arrived.
Then, around 6:20 p.m., two women mugged a woman in an alley on the 500 block of West Deming, taking the victim’s wallet, purse, and phone.
Once again, the offenders fled in a black or gray SUV.
Both victims said the robbers are black females who wore black hoodies. One of the robbers is heavyset.
