Prosecutors: Rogers Park man punched his 100-year-old mom in the face

Donald Brearley | CPD

Felony charges have been filed against a Rogers Park man who prosecutors say punched his 100-year-old mother in the face.

Police arrested Donald Brearley, 65, at his home in the 7100 block of North Damen on Dec. 30 during a follow-up to an earlier incident.

Prosecutors said Brearley, who is retired, punched his mother in her face with a closed fist during a dispute at their home on Dec. 11. The elderly woman was hospitalized at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston after the attack, according to police. She has since been transferred to a nursing home for on-going care, according to police.

Brearley is charged with felony aggravated battery of a victim over age 60. Judge David Navarro set bail at $3,000 and Brearley posted a $300 deposit bond to get out of jail.
