Chicago police are investigating two robberies that were reported within 20 minutes Monday evening near Lake Shore Park in Streeterville. No one is in custody.

Around 10:30 p.m., a man sought help from a high-rise condo building’s doorman after an offender attacked and robbed him on the 200 block of East Pearson, according to a police report.

According to a witness and the victim, the offender battered him, took his phone and wallet, then fled in a white SUV that was driven by another person. The offender is a black male who wore a white puffy jacket with a hood, police said. The SUV fled eastbound on Pearson.

At almost exactly the same time, the doorman for a Lake Shore Drive building was robbed by a similarly-described offender on the 800 block of North Dewitt Place.

No further information is available about the second mugging.
