2 arrested after carjacked SUV crashes into Lincoln Park garage

Two carjacking suspects are in custody after they crashed the stolen vehicle into a Lincoln Park garage Thursday. A firearm was recovered from one of the men, police said.

Two or three men, armed with two guns, stole the black SUV from a motorist in suburban North Chicago this week, according to initial information.

Around 11:20 a.m., the stolen Jeep crashed into a residential garage on the 900 block of West Schubert and two men ran from the scene. Chicago police searched the area and arrested two suspects near Schubert and Wilton streets after brief foot chases. One of the men was carrying a firearm, an officer said.

Charges are pending.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
