A downtown hotel guest was strong-arm robbed when a man showed up at his room door instead of a woman that he had invited over, according to Chicago police.

The 23-year-old victim told police that he arranged to meet a woman in his room at the London House Hotel, 85 East Wacker. But, when he answered a knock on his room door around 10:45 p.m., a man forced his way inside and took money from a table, according to CPD spokesperson Ronald Westbrooks.

The offender then forced the victim to walk to an ATM in the lobby to get more cash, but that plan failed when the victim sought help from the front desk instead.

Police said the offender then left the hotel and got into a red SUV that headed eastbound on Wacker Drive. He is described as a black male who stands about 6’3” tall. he wore a green jacket, an Atlanta Braves baseball hat, one red gym shoe, and one greenish-colored gym shoe.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
