Lakeview home burglar spots surveillance camera — 5 seconds too late

Home surveillance cameras captured images of a burglar as he scoured a Lakeview home Wednesday. The bumbling burglar spotted one of the cameras — but not before it captured crystal clear images of his face.

You can see the “oh sh*t” look in his eyes as he extends a gloved hand to block the camera lens.

The burglary on the 600 block of West Oakdale is the latest in a series of break-ins that police reportedly believe the suspect has committed in the neighborhood and nearby Lincoln Park.

If you happen to see this gentleman in the neighborhood, a call to 911 may be in order. Be sure to mention that he’s wanted in connection with an April 22 burglary on the 600 block of Oakdale when you call.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
